Poezio is in instant messenger client, for the Jabber (XMPP) protocol only.
Its main goal was to handle only MUC (MultiUserChat) conversations, and anonymous authentication. This way, it can be used just like a classic IRC client (no registration needed, just run the software and join the rooms you want). The point is to get a console client, with the geekness and the (relative) “anonymity” of IRC clients like irssi or weechat, for people used to these clients and repulsed by the too high number of graphical Jabber clients.
But, poezio also is in fact a full-featured Jabber client, supporting the roster, one-to-one conversations and many other features.

Poezio in next versions

0.7.5

This version will finish the MUC support (with room configuration, etc) and improve the roster.
It will also introduce the plugin system. So, the neat features will come (some as plugins): /link, /alias, /exec commands…

0.8

This version will be with pubsub support (browse nodes, create nodes, publish items, subscribe to nodes, read and receive items), and PEP support, so it will be possible to do some microblogging, blogging, to publish your current activity/mood/tune.
